I am a Master Level Reiki Practitioner
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a holistic energy healing technique which helps promote and assist mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health and healing. It it used by and for people of every religion. It is used in private practice and in hospital settings. Doctors, Nurses, and alternative healers use Reiki to help their patients, their families and themselves. Click here for a Washington Post article about Reiki and heart surgery.
Reiki uses what many cultures have for more than hundreds of years known as the "laying on of hands." A Reiki practitioner uses their hands to pass healing energy to a client. Jessica Miller, Reiki Master Teacher of the International Center for Reiki Training, jokes that "Reiki is the worlds oldest profession!"
What is a Session Like?
For your session you remain fully clothed and sit in a chair or lay comfortably on a massage table and listen to relaxing music. I use music composed for Reiki, check out the music of energy worker/composer Johnathan Goldman.
I will speak with you regarding your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. A session with me is holistic! With the information you share and with my own scan of your body and aura (the energy field around every living thing) I will assess what sort of treatment to do. As I am an intuitive/psychic, I work a bit differently than a traditional reiki worker. I will listen to your body, receive messages from guides, and in this way provide a very deep experience, getting to the origin of your physical/emotional issue.
Reiki has specific hand positions which help direct the healing to the parts of the physical body or auric body which need healing. Reiki has healing attunements and other traditional ways to assist in healing.
You and I work together to heal what needs healing. I use Reiki, Intuition, Chakra Energy and other systems when I am engaged in healing. As I am an intuitive, I will look at, feel for, and listen to the pain or discomfort, so that I can better understand the origin of it and start the healing.
Does Reiki Require Multiple Sessions?
Just like other healing techniques....even Western medical techniques, it does depend upon your issue and your need and even your personality! . Many clients have been helped in just two or three sessions while others require a more continued support. Some clients schedule regular treatments over the year (see SPECIALS) to keep their immune systems healthy. Clients schedule Reiki in conjunction with Western Medicine treatments. Clients going through stressful life changes come for sessions when they feel they need help keeping balanced and positive. Reiki after any type of surgery or medical procedure does help speed recovery.
If a Reiki Practitioner looks at you and says "this will take 25 ninety- minute treatments" consider finding a second Reiki opinion. See what another one of us has to say!
Many clients decide to learn Reiki, I and II so they can treat themselves. In fact, it is a major goal of most of the Reiki practitioners to pass on the knowledge and ability to use Reiki through teaching and attunements.
How Have My Clients Benefited from Reiki?
In a short treatment for a migraine, I found that the headache was in the shape of a handle, crossing over the head. The client confirmed this was the size and shape, and even how they described it! Reiki helps me listen to your body!
Your body is not just physical. Your body is a powerful system of healing. As a healer I work with the messages your body sends physically, emotionally and psychically.
In listening to a brain tumor, I was given very specific message, when I related that message to the person, she confirmed that it was a message that had deep emotional life meaning to her, it represented a way of thinking that she could no longer tolerate. She had changed her life path in order to let go of that way of thinking. Negative thinking patterns make you sick. Science now supports this proposition. The worlds of Medicine and Psychotherapy are becoming more holisitc. Discover more about Somatic Psychotherapy from PhDc Chris Tickner.
With a client who was battling a major life change and wanting to make a geographical move which meant leaving a very good location for her career, I used a combination of reiki and shamanic healing. I asked her separate the part of herself which held her so strongly to her current life. I had her visualize this part as an actual person. Through a meditation in which the client expressed deep thanks and caring for this person we discovered the way in which to let this part, this person stop working quite so hard. This is deep work, and only for those ready to make significant life changes.
With another client I discovered a message in her left hip, it was just one word, and I related that word to her. She confirmed it was a negative thought she had been harboring about herself. With the help of Reiki and intuition, the session cleared this energy for her, opened up a block that the negative thinking had created in her physical and energetic body.
Another client navigating a divorce, needed some help with anxiety and worry. With a distant (we are on opposite coasts of the USA) healing session she felt both relaxed and energized and we identified where in her body she held the most anxiety. I gave her not only a Reiki treatment but helped her to identify her pattern of holding stress in her body. Stress of any kind is at the root of almost all, probably all, disease and illness. If she continued to hold it in those areas of her body, she could have developed physical problems or become sick in some way.
Each session is as individual as each client.
What does Reiki Feel Like?
Clients report many sensations such as feeling great warmth, soothing energy, release of pain, release of pressure, goosebumps, lightness or heaviness, positive, peaceful, happy emotions and general feelings of wellbeing. Reiki, it does a body good!
How Did I Learn Reiki?
Reiki is passed from master to student through attunements and training. Jessica Miller, my teacher, Reiki Master and Scholar, writes in her Reiki I and II Packet that your body has a divine blueprint of what it would be like to be completely healthy and happy. Reiki reminds and eases your body into that blueprint. Reiki can work on all parts of the body from organs and nerves to brain cells. Dr. Raven Lee is another Reiki Master to whom I am student, gifting me with with two lineages!
What is the History of Reiki?
The Reiki technique is historically attributed to Mikao Usui (1865-1926). Also from Rand's book, Usui Sensei was a student of medicine, psychology, religion and fortune telling, which Asians have long considered to be a worthy skill. [He] was also a member of the Rei Jyutu Ka, a metaphysical group dedicated to developing psychic abilities. As a sensitive spiritualist Usui Sensei had spent much time meditating at power spots on Mt. Kurama where he received his early Buddhist training. He enrolled in Isyu Guo, a twenty-one day training course sponsored by the Tendai Buddhist Temple located at Mt. Kurama. It was during this training that Usui Sensei experienced Reiki energy entering his crown chakra and greatly enhancing his healing abilities. Interesting parallels exists between the system of Healing Usui Sensei created and some of the symbols and philosophy practiced by the Kurama-Koyo Buddhists (formerly the Tendai Buddhists) on Mt. Kurama.
Usui had been searching for an energy technique that would heal others yet not deplete the healer of their own energy. Reiki is that technique.
Usui Sensei became a well respected teacher of Reiki and the Japanese government issued him a Kun San award for doing honorable work to help others.
