What is Intuition?
Intuition has become synonomous with the term psychic.
There are many forms of intuition and each psychic or intuitive will receive information in their own unique manner. I will hear, see and feel things outside of what we define as our three dimensional physicial world. It is a challenge to put into words exactly what I experience. More important than how I receive information psychically is my intent. My sole intention in engaging in my psychic work is to help others create happy healthy lives, and to inpsire others to enagage in the use of their own intution.
Practical Definitions and Examples from my Practice
Clairvoyance, Clairsentenience and Clairaudience, Channeling
Clairvoyance is a term from late 17th century French. Clair meaning clear and voyant, meaning seeing. People experience clairvoyance in different ways. Perhaps you feel you "know" what is going to happen, or you "understand" a situation before it occurs, that is an clairvoyant experience. It can be just a notion you may have. You might even call it your "intuition", and, it can come to you in different ways.
Clairvoyants can receive information in visual terms, but we may also receive information as auditory. emotional and kinesthetic.
Clairvoyance has historically been related to certain religious and shamanic practices. It has been assigned to the realm of "alternative" healing or practice, which is interesting as it was in practice prior to the many of most popular organized religions of the world. Hindu religious texts list clairvoyance with other forms of "clear" experiencing. The experiences are found when one has reached a certain level of attention or clarity through meditation.
Among other ways, I experience information for my clients by "seeing" images. For example, I have a client who was experiencing difficulties with a family business. When we tackled the question. "who will support you" in this situation, I "saw" a large and bright form coming from the direction of the south.
When I verbalize what I see, I am receiving words appropriate for what I see. I am always quite careful with my verbiage and avoid words that associate my practice with strongly defined religious practices, but I "knew" that the only word to fit the image was "angel." When I translated the information to the client, it made total sense to the client, in fact, the word the client used to describe the person in the south was "angel." That is a lovely form of confirmation through clairvoyance.
I recently read for a young woman in California. Prior to each session I meditate, use tarot and other tools to connect with each client. In this case I found many details about a relationship this woman has with a sister. From one tarot card, The Moon, I was given an understanding exactly what the issues were. When the client called in, as I usually do, I offered this information, giving her the insight I had found as well as allowing her to feel comfortable bringing up the subject of this deep and emotional family issue. The Moon does not directly speak to sister or family issues, but it was the meaning for this particular client.
Clairsentience is French is origin, like Clairvoyance. Clair, meaning clear, and sentient, meaning feeling.
A clairsentient feels a client's emotions, understands clearly what a person is feeling, has felt, or may feel in the future.
I am able to feel the emotions of the clients and of people close to them. Although I will not read for anyone but the client requesting the reading (see Code of Ethics) I will let my client know how someone is feeling in relation to my client.
A common example is found in a reading I did for a client in Virginia. We were exploring one issue in a question and I sensed anxiety in the client. When I brought this up, the client realized that indeed they were anxious about the issue, but had been unaware of that feeling. Once that was clear we were able to get much more deeply in to the client's questions.
In a reading done for a client from Northern California, the client wanted to know if a certain writing project was a good investment of time. The client did not tell me the content, but it became terribly clear to me that it was concerning the client's childhood and I could feel that the client had been abused. I felt fear, sadness and I saw the dark place the client had been held. I was very careful in revealing this. I used general language at first, and because this client spoke openly as we progressed with the reading, I was able to let them know what I had seen. The client was glad I had felt and seen the details because it confirmed for them the importance of the writing.
Clairaudience is the ability to hear (auditory) information in word form. Channeling is a clairaudient activity, a person will receive messages or information for example, in a healing session. Many healers, myself included, can listen to a body and get messages from trouble spots. I have listened to tumors, to energy blocks, to tense muscles, just to areas of the body and these messages enabnt to find sometimes a cause for the problem, always a pathway of recovery and healing, certainly of awareness. I listen to my own guides, my "higher Self" and the guides and
higher selves of others. I can't imagine life without this sort of communication, it grounds me and creates a wholeness in my life.
Channeling is another word we toss around. My very talented architect sister and I were having a conversation about channeling and I believe we came up with the best way to define it. Channeling is a word we use when we hear another voice, other than ALL the regular internal voices that belong to our psyche, our ego, our id, our internal critic. There are many of these voices. The voice that brings comfort, support, even rescue, more likely is your higher self. The part of you that is full of knowledge beyond what you have read or studied or even imagined. It is still you! It is your higher part, your God self, your double! Some people channel clearly their higher self and give it a name, thinking it is outside of themselves. There is no harm in this! You can also channel your guides. You can channel other energies and entities outside of yourself but your best channeling is that of your own higher self. Your inner wisdom, your intuition, your knowing is exactly what channeling truly is. You hear, see, feel information that you just "know" is useful. Your entire body resonates with the feeling of truth. There is simply no reason to channel anything that feels otherwize. Most of the time that sort of information is an emotional voice of our own, our fears, our worries, things of that nature.
I feel very blessed to have the ability to do these things, they do not seem strange to me, only wonderful tools that I have the great joy to use in helping others and myself. I was happy to "see" in a dream what grade I was getting after a math test in eight grade (math stressed me out!) and I am now happy to see, hear, feel and know useful information for clients. If you have experienced any sort of psyhic incident, if you have discovered you have any abilities like these, it is fully your choice to use them or to let them stay dormant, you are in control, it is your life to live as you wish. Just know, there is nothing wrong with you and there is nothing to fear. There is only good in the ability to help and heal. As far as I can tell...it's what we're here for!
